Drainage Coefficient

A drainage coefficient is a design parameter that specifies the capacity of a drainage system. It’s typically expressed as a fraction of an acre-inch of water that the system can remove from the soil in a 24 hour period.

EX: If you have a 1/2" drainage coefficient, the drainage system is designed to remove 1/2" of water from the soil in a 24 hour period.

Figuring Grade and Slope

                           Figuring Grade & Slope

Grade = Rise over Run x 100%

Slope = Rise over Run

                                            Using Decimal Ft.

1.0' / 1000' = 0.001 X 100 = 0.1% Grade

1.0' / 4.0' = 25% Slope or 1:4 Slope
